CNC cutting is computer-controlled cutting (often called CNC routing for signs). A machine follows your digital artwork and cuts the shape out of a rigid sheet. Because the machine reads the file directly, every piece matches the drawing and every repeat matches the first one.

We cut rigid sign materials: cast acrylic, PVC foam board, ACM (Alupanel), coroplast and foam board — including CNC acrylic cutting and CNC foam board cutting for letters, logos and custom shapes.

Yes. We CNC cut foam board and PVC foam board for indoor letters, shaped displays, props and trade-show pieces. Tell us the size and how the piece will be used so we can recommend the right thickness.

No. We cut plastics and composite sign materials, not solid metal. ACM panels have a thin aluminium face over a plastic core, and those we do cut. For steel or solid aluminium parts you need a machine shop, not a sign shop.

No. Our CNC cutting service is for sign materials — acrylic, PVC foam board, ACM, coroplast and foam board. We do not CNC cut wood, MDF or lumber. For wood parts you need a wood shop or fabrication shop that cuts timber.

A vector file is best — AI, EPS, PDF or DXF, with the cut lines as real paths rather than a picture. If you only have a JPG, a PNG, a scan or a sketch, send it anyway. Our design team redraws artwork for cutting every week.

Timing depends on the material, the size and how many pieces you need. We confirm a date with your quote, and rush or same-day options are available on select jobs when the file is cut-ready.

CNC cutting usually costs more or less based on three things: the material and thickness, how long the cutting path is (a simple rectangle is cheaper than a detailed logo), and the quantity. There is no single flat rate that fits every job. Send your file and we will quote it — usually the same business day — with no obligation.

We do not sell CNC machining by the hour like a metal machine shop. For sign CNC routing we price each job by material, cut complexity and quantity — not a published hourly machining rate. If you need hourly CNC machining for metal or engineered parts, that is a different service from our Surrey sign cutting.

Very fine detail and hairline strokes can break during cutting, especially in thin material. Send your artwork and we will tell you honestly whether it will hold up, and suggest a thickness that works.

For most sign work, yes. CNC routing handles thick material and large panels, which is what signage uses. Laser cutting gives a very fine edge on thin acrylic but is limited on size and thickness, and it cannot cut ACM. For letters, panels and logo cut-outs, routing is the normal choice.
